The ECI Group is hiring a Senior Polybutene-1 Process Technology Specialist to support technology leaders in improving the operation and design of their Polybutene-1 manufacturing facilities, by providing expertise in operations, reliability, process design and production analysis in the relevant process. This role is part-time, averaging 20 hours per week, and involves participating in feasibility studies, operations consultancy studies and engineering projects for Polyolefin processes with a focus on Polybutene-1. This position can be remote or from either one of our design office located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or Manchester, UK.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide dedicated support to projects assigned by the Consultancy Services Director.
- Function as the company’s subject matter expert on Polybutene manufacturing process technology, operation and equipment.
- Apply in-depth operational knowledge of the polybutene process to resolve complex or unusual new business, technology, engineering and design problems.
- Provide technical support, technical quality assurance, technical design/project reviews to prevent over design but to ensure operational safety.
- Assist project teams in identification of technical project risk and address risk mitigation measures.
- Participate internal and external PHAs and SIL/LOPAs as assigned.
- Prepare design guidelines and engineering deliverables in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
- Attend technical design/project reviews to ensure compliance with customer’s needs and QHSE requirements.
- Identify and communicate lessons learned from the projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
- 10 - 20+ years of experience in various engineering, operations or other technical roles with a minimum of 8 years in a multidisciplinary petrochemical design or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Polybutene -1 technologies/licenses and up-to date knowledge of key process design and engineering techniques.
- Experience with polymer devolatilization technology and equipment is a plus.
- Site experience (e.g. operations, commissioning, process optimization, debottlenecking etc.).
- Knowledge of relevant international standards for petrochemical process plants, industry codes, product safety standards and regulations, etc..
- Creative problem definition and problem-solving skills and excellent technical and non-technical communication skills, both written and oral.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
