The ECI Group, a global technology leader in the design of polymer manufacturing facilities, has an opening for an experienced and knowledgeable Sr Facility | Process Safety Engineer. Consider joining our team of experienced engineers and designers developing process engineering solutions for our high pressure polyethylene business unit.  This position can be based out of either our Baton Rouge, LA office or our Manchester, England office.

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position functions as a subject matter expert (SME) who develops and applies advanced process safety engineering concepts to our greenfield and retro-fit design projects. This position requires minimal supervision to accomplish tasks. The following activities and responsibilities will be expected:
  • Actively participate in, and provide SME input to, safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP/PHA, IL/LoPA – both on specific projects and as required on generic ECIG technology applications;
  • Provide SME support to other project design reviews including;
    • P&ID reviews;
    • Constructability;
    • 30%/60%/90% model reviews,
    • Plot plan / siting reviews;
  • Prepare specific safety studies, including drawings and documentation. Examples include:
    • Dispersion Modelling;
    • Blast / Overpressure Studies;
    • Risk Assessments and other non-Process Hazard Analyses;
    • Other specialized technical safety analyses as required;
  • Lead external safety reviews for clients on non-ECIG technology facilities;
    • PHA;
    • IL/LoPA;
    • Root Cause Analysis;
  • Prepare and take ownership of the relief philosophy and other safety-related philosophies for ECIG Technology;
  • Provide SME oversight and supervision to HP and LP relief design on ECIG Technology projects;
  • Provide SME support to safety analyses for new processes and methods and/or for revisions to existing processes and methods;
  • Resolve process safety related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards;
  • Maintain the company library of applicable international and national safety standards and ensure continuing compliance.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in process safety;
  • Certified PHA facilitator is required;
  • Experience on petrochemical capital projects (FEED and/or EPC) performing Safety Engineering functions is preferred;
  • Experience with PHA, modeling, and QRA software desired;
  • Process controls and experience with DCS/SIS systems desired;
  • Experienced & effective problem solver, leading cross-functional teams both inside and outside the HPPE Business and Technology Unit;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required to develop presentations, analytical reports and provide clear and concise technical correspondence.
